Charlie Sheen continues “winning” in Ohio

Against all odds, Charlie Sheen appears to have righted the ship that is the “My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat Is Not an Option” tour.
After a very rough Detroit launch — which featured boos, jeers and an exiting audience – Sheen has rebounded. Having tweaked the program’s format, Sheen now has received raves and standing ovations in Chicago, Cleveland and, Wednesday night, Columbus, Ohio.
“You came out to watch, and you didn’t know anything,” said a suddenly humble Sheen as he thanked the crowd for attending.
The Columbus Dispatch reports, “In his fourth stop on a 22-city tour, Charlie Sheen last night comfortably settled into a talk-show-style groove, interspersing bland, fuzzy anecdotes with his one-size-fits-all catchphrases that had reached water-cooler saturation long before the actor’s Palace Theatre debut.
“The 70-minute show had little muscle – or content. [But] by all accounts, it was certainly an improvement from his Saturday kickoff in Detroit, where the skeletal star was booed off the stage following a freestyle show.”
The Dispatch goes on to note that Sheen lacked the improv skills needed to keep the show bouncing along, and that his canned responses to audience questions may get tired as Sheen reaches the later stops on the tour.
But for now, whatever he is doing, it is working.
